ImAPet cites tarik, stanislaw, “hypocrisy” as reasons to leave EG

North American esports organization Evil Geniuses has parted ways with head coach Chet “ImAPet” Singh following a seven-month stint with the team. This move comes after EG’s high-profile return to competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in September 2019, when the organization acquired NRG’s complete CS:GO lineup shortly after their impressive performance at the StarLadder Berlin Major tournament.

Singh’s coaching journey spanned nearly two years from his initial involvement with NRG through his April 3 departure. During his EG tenure, he contributed significantly to the squad’s remarkable ascent to the top global ranking position. The team secured championship victories at ESL One New York 2019 and StarSeries iLeague Season 8, complemented by a third-place achievement at the ECS Season 8 finals during the second half of 2019.

However, Evil Geniuses experienced a performance downturn as 2019 concluded. The roster maintained this struggling form entering 2020, commencing the competitive year with disappointing seventh-place results at BLAST Premiere’s inaugural spring season and ninth-place standing at IEM Katowice 2020.

ImAPet’s apparent struggles working with tarik, stanislaw

In a detailed Twitlonger post published after his release announcement, Singh attributed Evil Geniuses’ competitive challenges directly to his deteriorating working relationships with players Tarik “tarik” Celek and Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz, characterizing these professional dynamics as “completely unworkable.”

“Significant philosophical inconsistencies emerged within the team regarding cultural perspectives and gameplay approaches… I proposed specific roster adjustments and strategic modifications that ultimately weren’t implemented. This led directly to our current situation,” Singh explained during his statement.

During a subsequent Twitch streaming session, Singh refrained from providing additional commentary about the circumstances, indicating he would address further details only if tarik and stanislaw chose to respond publicly.

ImAPet’s exit from Evil Geniuses introduces a highly-driven and seasoned Counter-Strike: Global Offensive coach to the available talent pool. FunPlus Phoenix represents one plausible destination, having previously attempted to acquire Heroic’s lineup before that arrangement collapsed. FPX subsequently obtained the former Riot Squad roster preceding Flashpoint’s second competitive stage, currently operating without formal coaching leadership.

FunPlus Phoenix demonstrates considerable potential, with the organization showing strong commitment to maintaining a competitive CS:GO presence despite complications encountered during their attempted procurement of the Danish Heroic organization. After FPX publicly announced the Heroic roster signing, Heroic reversed course on the agreement and disclosed plans to transfer Patrick “es3tag” Hansen to Astralis as their sixth roster member. Astralis verified the es3tag acquisition merely 24 hours later.

Evil Geniuses is presently working to regain competitive footing in global rankings after descending from the premier position last November and reaching their lowest point at eighth place on March 23. The squad currently holds the seventh position worldwide.

ImAPet’s release creates an immediate coaching vacancy for Evil Geniuses just before their crucial playoff confrontation against North American rival Team Liquid scheduled for April 10.
