DRX overhauls roster for 2025 season, here’s the new lineup

Following a disastrous performance throughout the 2024 LCK competitive year, DRX has initiated what may be their most significant roster reconstruction effort since their championship era.

While technically the organization secured the World Championship title just two years prior, the current competitive landscape makes that achievement feel increasingly distant and disconnected from their present reality.

The franchise previously known as King-Zone DragonX has executed numerous player lineup changes in the period following their Summoner’s Cup triumph. This latest strategic pivot represents a calculated response to sustained underperformance, with confirmed acquisitions of three key positions and a new tactical leader for the upcoming season.

DRX adds Rich, Juhan, ucal and Ssong for 2025 LCK season

DRX has formally announced the acquisition of new talent for top lane, jungle, and mid lane positions for their 2025 campaign. Additionally, the team confirmed the appointment of Kim “Ssong” Sang-soo as their new head coach, bringing extensive strategic expertise to the organization.

Based on these strategic moves, DRX’s projected starting lineup for the 2025 LCK season appears to be:

• Lee “Rich” Jae-won – Top Lane
• Lee “Juhan” Ju-han – Jungle
• Son “ucal” Woo-hyeon – Mid Lane
• Park “Teddy” Jin-seong – Bot Lane
• Son “Pleata” Min-woo – Support

All three incoming players represent significant returns to the LCK competitive circuit after gaining international experience across multiple regions. ucal makes his comeback following three competitive years in China’s LPL with ThunderTalk Gaming, where his performances failed to achieve notable competitive success. Rich began his overseas career in 2022, transitioning from the LPL to North America’s LCS with Dignitas. Juhan returns after competing for one season in Europe’s LEC with GiantX, providing diverse strategic perspectives.

DRX has maintained continuity in their bottom lane positions, with Teddy and Pleata expected to continue their roles without changes. The organization has yet to announce official decisions regarding their 2024 top, mid, or jungle roster members. Lee “Frog” Min-hoi, Bae “Sponge” Young-jun, and Song “SeTab” Kyeong-jin all remain under contract with the team, creating potential depth and competition within the organization.

This comprehensive roster reconstruction follows an exceptionally challenging 2024 competitive season for DRX that highlighted systemic issues requiring immediate attention.

Despite achieving the pinnacle of competitive success with their 2022 World Championship victory, DRX experienced near-complete roster dissolution within days of the tournament conclusion. Their entire championship-winning starting lineup departed the organization, with only support specialist Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee and coaching staff member Shin “Shine” Dong-wook choosing to remain. Although management assembled a new competitive squad, DRX rapidly declined from a mid-tier LCK contender to consistently occupying the lower standings.

The 2023 season witnessed DRX struggling to ninth position during the LCK Spring Split. A moderate improvement to sixth place in the summer split secured qualification for the LCK Finals tournament, but the team suffered immediate elimination after being comprehensively defeated by Dplus. Competitive conditions deteriorated further throughout 2024, with the organization finishing in ninth place during both competitive splits, indicating persistent structural challenges.

The organization underwent substantial ownership transformation and leadership restructuring during the middle of 2024, with eDreamWork completing acquisition of the franchise and installing new executive leadership to guide future strategic direction.
